Alesandra Seutin & Ben Williams’ Film ‘Air de Temps’ Nominated for Best Dance Film at the National Dance Awards 2023
Uprise Rebel are thrilled to announce that Alesandra Seutin & Ben Williams’ film Air de Temps has been nominated in the best dance film category at the National Dance Awards 2023.
The film was commissioned by Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage for series Motion Picture: New Collaborations in Dance and Film, where choreographer and filmmaker work together on an equal basis – the filmmaker revealing and enhancing the work of the choreographer and the choreographer providing the source material or material for the filmmaker to work with.
AIR DE TEMPS tells of an urgent need to speak out, to delve into lost dreams, to confront your demons and regurgitate your resentment – have a voice. It’s a powerful process of taking action to shed the cloak of failure handed down generation after generation.
This cinematic film is set mostly in Bargny, a coastal town situated in Senegal and is a response to the in-process theatre work Air de Temps for the Jant-Bi II company based at École des Sables, Senegal and artistically led by Alesandra Seutin and Wesley Ruzibiza.
The National Dance Awards have been organised by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle in each year of this Millennium to celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain’s thriving dance culture. They are presented by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle, which brings together over 60 dance writers and critics. They are the only awards given by the body of professional dance critics in the UK. The winners will be announced at a live lunchtime ceremony to be held at The Coronet Theatre on Monday, 3rd June.
